Is it possible to have a normal life after a transplant?

I've had kidney disease (nephrodic syndrome) for the past year and a half. i've been taking a bunch of pills and now non of them are effecting me. so now i might have to get a trasplant. Now my question is, is it possible for me to have a normal life after the transplant. will i be able to get drunk on my 21st birthday and have a hang over the morning after? will i have to take pills for the rest of my life? Will i ever feel normal again?
